Benefits of different types of kitchen worktops

December 27, 2009
Posted in Kitchen Design — Written by Justin

Homeowners usually give emphasis to the kitchen area while selecting a home. An attractive kitchen design can really add to the overall appearance and value of the home. In addition, it can also increase the resale value of the property.

Some of the different types of kitchen worktops are as follows:

Natural Stone Worktops

These worktops have a deep shine and attractive appearance. The presence of natural rock further adds to the value of the worktop. They are chic, rugged and stain resistant in nature. Granite is a common type of natural stone worktop. It is one of the oldest and commonly used materials and is also surprisingly affordable. This type of material can last for years with proper maintenance and regular cleaning.

Corian Worktops

Corian is a 100 percent synthetic material, which is composed of acrylic polymer and alumina trihydrate. This material is produced by a man-made process and is resistant to staining. It does not absorb any water and this is the reason why it is a brilliant hygienic solution. Such worktops are easy to clean and are also available in many different colours and patterns.

Composite Materials

Composite materials are formed by a mixture of crushed granite and resin. They possess the features of natural stone coupled with the durable features of man-made materials.
Each material possesses its own distinctive advantages. Consumers should thus purchase a worktop on the basis of their budget and preference.
