Creating the illusion of space in the bathroom

March 31, 2010
Posted in Bathroom Advice — Written by Mark

Modern bathrooms are rarely afforded huge amounts of space to work with. Once you have taken up large portions of the room with the components of your bathroom, suite, you are often left with very little to play with.

Bathroom essentials, like baths, showers, sink units and toilets, eat up a lot of floor space, and crucial pieces of bathroom furniture like bathroom cabinets are not something you can leave out. As a result, bathrooms can look a little cramped, but your attention to design can create an illusion of extra space.
To begin with, if you use customised storage options then you are less likely to struggle against bathroom clutter.

In terms of decoration, it is better to use paler colours that will reflect as much light as possible. A brighter room always appears more spacious. With this in mind, try not to cover the bathroom window too heavily. For privacy, use patterned glass instead of blotting light out with blinds.

You can also use mirrors to your advantage. Large mirrors reflect parts of the room giving the impression that there is more bathroom than there really is.

Don’t let a small bathroom hold you back. Follow these tips and watch your bathroom grow.
