Modern bathrooms are rarely afforded huge amounts of space to work with. Once you have taken up large portions of the room with the components of your bathroom, suite, you are often left with very little to play with.
Bathroom essentials, like baths, showers, sink units and toilets, eat up a lot of floor space, and crucial pieces of bathroom furniture like bathroom cabinets are not something you can leave out. As a result, bathrooms can look a little cramped, but your attention to design can create an illusion of extra space.
To begin with, if you use customised storage options then you are less likely to struggle against bathroom clutter.

Lots of things can influence your home design. For some people, it is all about what is most comfortable to them, whereas others follow particular trends and fashions. Others take much of their inspiration from magazines and television shows. The main thing is creating a space in your home that speaks to you as an individual – that satisfies your personality and tastes.
With this idea in mind, it is worth considering taking some inspiration in design from the places you have visited. Different countries have different traditional designs, some of which you probably loved when you visited and some of which you might have hated.
Some traditional foreign designs you might find more appropriate to specific rooms around the house. For instance, Greek styles, with blues and whites, might look great in your bathroom setup, so you might use a Greek colour scheme with simple bathroom furniture and tile or stone flooring to hark back to the time you spent in Greece. Equally, in the kitchen, you might be inspired by Eastern travels that took you to minimalist, clean Japanese kitchens, with sophisticated kitchen worktops and modern cabinets.
One thing you can be sure of is that taking inspiration from your travels will inject a personal touch into your home.

Whilst some people like their home to be chic and elegant above all else others favour a more casual approach. The casual approach is all about injecting a bit of additional comfort into your home surroundings. The kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedrooms can all benefit from a casual approach to interior design as it makes each of these rooms a more welcoming space.
You want every room in your house to feel inviting. Some contemporary designs can be quite austere and intimidating, so opting for something more casual can increase your comfort and that of your guests.
In the kitchen, this might mean opting for a few kitchen accessories to make the area less sparse. It may mean injecting a little colour and not overdoing the clinical approach that some people take to kitchen design. Attractive kitchen worktops and kitchen sinks can be modern without being clinical.
In the bathroom, make the most of your lighting so that it is not too harsh. Again avoid clinical design by breaking up the bright whiteness that you usually find in a bathroom setup.
Aside from this, you can make things feel more casual with cushions and personal touches around the house, just to soften the overall aspect of your home.

Black and white design is particularly effective. If you want to make an impression on your guests with your design then white not use contrasting black and white in your kitchen and bathroom. Black and white tiling on the kitchen walls, coupled sophisticated black kitchen worktops and sinks, and white appliances can evoke all the very best from 1960s fashion without being garish or over the top.
The same rules apply to the bathroom. You can set off a white bathroom suite with black tiling on the walls and floors and black bathroom furniture. Using black and white effectively can make a fabulous impression.
Your bathroom and kitchen are rooms used by everyone, from family members to guests and it is always a good idea to spend time thinking about the best way to design them before you throw yourself into redecorating.

The way you design and decorate your home can say an awful lot about you. There are loads of different interior design styles that you can opt for in your home, some of which you can even mix up to get your own personal spin.
When you are redecorating a number of rooms it is important to consider whether you want similar styles to some through in every space, or whether you want each room to have its own feel and mood. This often depends on the character of your house.
Some houses suit a cottage style more than any other. The cottage style is characterised by warm and rustic designs that give the impression of a kind of country retreat. A good deal of wood and simple room layouts contribute to the atmosphere this sort of design can create.
You can incorporate the cottage style into your kitchen and dining areas most readily. This is because there is an emphasis on functionality and the home as a central hub for food preparation, comfort and relaxation. Rustic kitchen worktops and kitchen cabinets with traditional style fittings add to the sense of warmth in a cottage style setting.

A healthy interest in wine is sophisticated and cultured. It is also very sociable. It’s great to have the option of inviting people round to share in good wine and good conversation. It’s also great to be confident about the ways you can improve your dinner party approach by the choices of wine you make for certain meals.
As your taste in wine improves, however, you will become more and more sensitive to changes brought about by the way you store your bottles. Good wines are, generally speaking, fairly delicate in that they require a certain environment in order to stay at their best.
Certain kitchen accessories can improve your experience of wine drinking. Wine coolers are specifically designed to regulate the conditions under which you keep your wines. Many of these appliances feature separate compartments for red and white wines which you can set to optimum temperatures. Red wine must be kept warm, whilst white wine has to be kept cold for thorough enjoyment and authenticity.
In terms of convenience, wine coolers have the added appeal of keeping your wine collection of your regular refrigerator. This frees up space for more essential items for which fridge space is vital.

Controlling the temperature and light of any room in the house is something that is important to creating a pleasant environment in that space. As the seasons change, it becomes more and more noticeable drastic the effect that more external light can have on a room, but this is something you can regulate through your choice of window coverings.
Rooms with skylights are perhaps the most affected by the transition from the winter months to the spring and the summer. Facing upwards as they do, the light pours into them, and to a certain extent that is their unique appeal. However, it is not always advantageous in terms of the atmosphere of a room. During the summer, these rooms can heat up dramatically, making them uncomfortable places to be.
For this reason, investing in a set of Velux blinds can significantly improve the effect created by your skylights. These blinds come in a wide variety of colours and styles to suit the interior design of your home. They allow you much better control of sunlight to keep the environment of the room at the optimum level.
You can also get blackout varieties that block sunlight altogether, for occasions when it is best to have total darkness, for example, when catching up on sleep.

Lots of different styles of bathroom furniture can contribute to the general improvement of your bathroom setup. In terms of both style and convenience, bathroom furniture has a major part to play.
Naturally, much of what you can choose to decorate your bathroom with depends on the space you have available in the room after having reserved portions for your bathroom suite. With the shower, bath, sink and toilet out of the way, you can address your storage and style needs with the rest of the space.
Certain items of bathroom furniture are more useful than others. Bathroom cabinets are obviously extremely convenient, offering vital storage space for all the toiletries and everyday bathroom accessories that you can’t get by without.
Towel racks are also useful as they prevent you from having to pile towels up in wardrobes and drawers. Laundry baskets are also a good idea to have in the bathroom, purely for convenience. This is one of the rooms in which you are most likely to get undressed and so having a laundry basket to hand for dirty clothes and wet towels is a great idea, providing that you have enough room.
Whatever you do, make sure that you don’t overwhelm the room with unnecessary items of bathroom furniture. Lack of space in the bathroom is really unappealing.

Cleanliness is perhaps the most important feature of any approach to kitchen design. A kitchen that doesn’t give the impression of cleanliness is much less welcoming than one that does. However, it is not just about impressions. For hygiene reasons, you want to make sure that you have a kitchen which is easy to clean and maintain. The choices you make when you decorate your kitchen can have a major effect in this regard.
First of all, choose wall tiles and floor tiles that you can wipe or mop with disinfectant solutions. This is the easiest way of ensuring your kitchen sparkles.
Stainless steel kitchen sinks are easier to clean than moulded plastic sinks. Provided that you do not use abrasive materials on them, they will wipe clean and shine. Granite sinks are similarly easy to clean.
Granite can also be used for your kitchen worktops. Being able to wipe these clean using a damp cloth and a form of disinfectant makes looking after your kitchen less of a chore. You will not have to bleach and scrub items, but will be confident that whatever the consequences of the preparations you undertake in the kitchen, they can be addressed easily and hygienically.
