Ease the competition for bathroom time

February 28, 2010

If you have a number of people in your household all competing for time in one bathroom, it can be incredibly difficult to share with everyone. The average household probably consists of two adults and two children, and when the kids grow up, they want to use the bathroom more and more. Unfortunately, they also want to use it at precisely the same times as their parents.

The morning is the worst time to have to compete for shower and bathroom time. It means people have to get up extra early and lose out on sleep just to get their ten minutes to wash and clean their teeth.

You can’t always make plans to install another bathroom and in any case that is a very large and expensive job, however you can think of other clever ways to smooth things over. One way of taking some of the pressure off the bathroom is to incorporate bathroom furniture into the bedroom.

Cloakroom units consist of a small sink atop a bathroom cabinet and they take up very little space. With the appropriate plumbing and a little mirror, you could hook a cloakroom unit up in the kids’ bedrooms so that they can wash and clean their teeth in their own rooms. They could also then keep the bathroom products they need in their own cabinets. You’ll still be competing for shower time, but you will really notice the improvement.
